2451 LINGUISTIC SCIENCE AND CULTURE

GENERAL INFORMATION
With other research fields of linguistics and semiotics are among the most cooperative science.This field is a discipline capable to reflects the most interdisciplinary approach . Today, social linguistics, historical linguistics, geographical linguistics, psycho linguistics, neuro linguistics has become widespread. Master's and doctoral research will be instrumental in filling the gap in this area.A graduate of the department of linguistics-oriented, scientific intersection and go top of the deepening will provide these special areas. The linguistic and cultural studies approach has a crucial role in filling the gap area. Common approach and cooperation between areas will be effective in solving the problem of have been untouched.

Objective
Master's and doctoral studies in common disciplines such as social linguistics, historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, and neurolinguistics will have a great share in filling the gap in this field. Cultural studies complements linguistic approach. A common approach and interdisciplinary cooperation will be effective in solving untouched problems.


Admission Requirements
The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have a score of at least 60 points in ALES (academic personnel and postgraduate education entrance exam, social science) to be able to apply for a master’s degree in the field to be specified by the Senate. The candidates must also have a score of at least 40 points (ÜDS, KPDS or another officially valid exam) to prove their competency in a foreign language. Those who fail to achieve a score of at least 50 points in the written and/or oral proficiency exam, or those who fail to take this exam are not accorded a calculated success grade.

Graduation Requirements
The workload for the Master’s Degree with a thesis cannot be less than 60 ECTS; it must be comprised of a total of AT LEAST 120 ECTS, which includes a dissertation, a course on the specialized field, at least 8 (eight) courses, and a seminar. Students must renew their enrollment each semester after their thesis proposal is officially approved. They are officially required to successfully defend a Master’s Degree thesis. The Master’s Degree covers 4 semesters at least, 6 semesters at most. They must achieve a GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.

Career Opportunties
Students who successfully complete a Master's Degree in Linguistics and Cultural Studies are considered academically proficient in the fields of language, linguistics and cultural studies; and they earn the eligibility to apply for a PhD program in related fields. Those who teach courses in any of these fields are considered to have a speciality with a master's degree; and they are regarded highly proficient in and preferable for doing jobs in related areas.

Recognition of previous structured lectures in Turkish Higher Education Institutions, transitions in vertical, horizontal and university are realized within the scope of the "Higher Education Regulations", "REGULATION BETWEEN THE BACHELORS AND GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS, ON HIGHER EDUCATION AND TRANSITION BETWEEN DOUBLE MAJOR DALL, SIDE DALL AND CREDIT TRANSFER STANDARDS
