171 ART HISTORY

GENERAL INFORMATION
Although it was among the departments in structure of Science-Literature faculty with founding of univesity in 1992, it began to function as Archeology and Art history Department in December 1997. It was separated as Art History Department by Interuniversity Committee in 8 may 2002. It took its first license students in 2003-2004 education terms and it gave its first graduate students in 2007. It has been going its functions in the programs of license, high- license and also doctorate since 2009.

Objective
It aims to train qualified personnel who can contribute to the science world and the teachings by evaluating the historical and cultural consumption richness inherited from Anatolia, the center of important civilizations. In addition, it is aimed to excavate, preserve, document and archive the important settlements of the middle and later periods in Anatolia since the Roman period. The aim of art history is the history of developing the consciousness of art by giving students a view of art from a certain point of view within a certain culture learning.


Admission Requirements
Must be taken high enough score at test made by ÖSYM.

Graduation Requirements
A total of 152 credit courses (240 ECTS) must be completed successfully.

Career Opportunties
Department alumnus can work at museums amd conservation councils belong to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as specialist and can be give guidance in the field of tourism.

Recognition of Prior Learning
The students want to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Pamukkale University are subject to “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer” terms.

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can study in post-graduate programs provided that they receive valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.
