Course Objective This course aims to obtain current and evidence-based knowledge that will provide an advanced examination of the concepts that form the fundamentals of Surgical Diseases Nursing, diseases that require surgery and their treatment, perioperative nursing, solving the problems that occur in the perioperative process, and evaluating the individual undergoing surgery as a whole from a bio-psycho-social perspective. At the same time, it is aimed to enable them to discuss this information in depth with a scientific and holistic perspective and, in this way, to carry out scientific studies that will produce original solutions for the problems they have identified in the field.
Course Content Nursing in surgical diseases in the world (history, duty, authority, responsibilities, etc.), ensuring homeostasis in surgery (liquid electrolyte and acid-base balance, bleeding control, surgical stress, shock), wound healing and care, current issues in surgery (hypothermia, nutritional pain, deep vein thrombosis), patient safety in surgery, system surgeries (cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, respiratory, genitourinary, endocrine and breast) and nursing care for them.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Knows evidence-based and current developments in surgery and Surgical Diaseases Nursing.
2Knows the scientific steps of searching the literature, evaluating the accuracy, validity, and reliability of the information, and applying the information in reaching evidence-based and up-to-date information specific to the field of Surgical Diseases Nursing.
3Provides perioperative care of the surgical patient with a holistic approach, evaluates and records the effect of the care given by using evidence-based and up-to-date information specific to the field of Surgical Diseases Nursing.
4To be able to plan and conduct a research topic by analyzing the knowledge gained in the international literature review in solving the problems related to the care of the surgical patient.
5Contributes to the solution of scientific and ethical problems encountered in the field of Surgical Diaseases Nursing and supports the development of these values.
