Course Objective It is aimed to develop perspectives on changing social problems by making use of theories. However, the main backbone of the course is the understanding of sociological theories and the establishment of their relations with religion.
Course Content In this course, classical and contemporary sociological theories will be discussed within the framework of critical reflections around the views of different sociologists. In addition, the theoretical, methodological and empirical problems of the sociology of religion will be evaluated in the context of the mutual relations and interactions between religion and society.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1The doctoral candidate comprehends the place and importance of religion together with sociology, politics and philosophy in understanding and analyzing society.
2Gain knowledge and ideas about the structure and explanatory nature of sociological theory.
3Have information about the history and philosophical background of the theories.
4Gains knowledge about large and medium size theories and their founders.
5Recognize conflict theory and schools based on it and evaluate their approaches to religion from multiple perspectives.
