COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To recognize the political situation in pre-Christian Palestine and its environs, to understand the emergence of Jesus, to comprehend the nature and miracles of the message, to explain and interpret Jesus' arrest, trial and crucifixion, to explain the place of Jewish law in Christianity, I. and IV. To summarize the general situation of Christianity between the centuries.
Course Content The events that took place before the birth of Jesus, the councils, the effects of Paul and his ideas on Christianity, the first sect formations, the Roman Empire and early Christianity.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students will recognize and know what kind of a religious tradition Christianity is, which is the world's largest religious tradition in terms of its supporters.
2Students will comprehend the emergence and institutionalization process of Christianity.
3Students will be aware of the doctrinal conflicts within the Church in the history of Christianity and the divisions caused by these fights.
4Students will have the ability to compare Christianity with major world religions, especially Islam.
5Students will gain the ability to analyze Christianity by having knowledge about the formation processes and nature of the basic doctrines of Christianity.
