COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To grasp the basic concepts of ethics and aesthetics, to be informed about the stages of the concept of aesthetics in the historical process. Interpreting Aesthetics as the science of beauty. To understand the difference between the aesthetic understanding of civilizations and the aesthetic definitions of philosophers and to develop a critical view. It is to create an environment for discussion on basic concepts such as ethics, aesthetics, art and beauty, and to enable them to question and evaluate. Interprets the changes between the definition of beauty in modern science and the definition of beauty in philosophy. It is to create a conscious background in the design phase by interpreting today's aesthetic understanding, seeing the difference between the idealized aesthetic perception, which is connected to the pleasure and sense organs, and the destructive point it has come from.
Course Content This course; Introduction to Aesthetics: The rationale of aesthetic education, resources related to aesthetics. What is ethics? Ethics definition and Aesthetics concept. The subject and content of ethics and aesthetics. The use of aesthetics in everyday language and aesthetics as a special concept. Art philosophy and aesthetic distinction. Critical approaches in aesthetics and art. Aesthetics and culture. The link between life and aesthetics (the place of aesthetics in our lives). Aesthetics and ballet, aesthetics and painting, aesthetics and sculpture, aesthetics and architecture, aesthetics and mythology, aesthetics and religion. Aesthetics and architecture. The relationship between aesthetics, sense of pleasure and ethics of today's societies. Ethics and aesthetic understanding in social life, the relationship between ethics and aesthetics as behavior. Aesthetic science relationship. The concept of beauty according to scientists. Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton. What is beauty according to Pythagoras, Euclid, Thales? Conceptual changes. critical approaches. The concept of beauty in the history of religions and the concept of beauty in philosophy. Aesthetics as an element of a work of art. Taste and aesthetic judgments, Beautiful, beauty in nature and art, changes in the understanding of beauty over time, the concept of ugliness in art. It includes aesthetic pleasure, aesthetic experience and anxiety.

4Recognizes the distinction between philosophy of art and aesthetics, critical approaches in aesthetics and art, and the concepts of aesthetics and culture.
5Recognize the relationship between aesthetics and religion, and the philosophical and artistic contexts of these two concepts.
6Explains the understanding of ethics and aesthetics in social life, the relationship between ethics and aesthetics as behavior, and the relationship between aesthetics and science. In addition, according to various philosophers and scientists, the concept of ethics, aesthetics and beauty expresses their relations.
