Course Objective The aim of this course is to gain competence on why and how to use science and mathematics subjects and approaches in social studies teaching.
Course Content Social studies definition/purpose/nature and philosophy, social studies curriculum, science curriculum, mathematics curriculum, STEAM, forest school, GEMS, SOFEM, biomimicry. Ethnomathematics.

1Realizes the importance of science and mathematics in the definition, purpose, philosophy and nature of social studies
2Relates the acquisitions in the social studies curriculum with the acquisitions in the science and/or mathematics curriculum.
3Realizes the relationship between social studies teaching and STEAM, forest school, SOFEM, GEMS, biomimicry and ethnomathematics.
4Develops sample activities suitable for STEAM, forest school, SOFEM, GEMS, biomimicry, ethnomathematics approaches in social studies teaching.
5Offers study topic suggestions including STEAM, forest school, SOFEM, GEMS, biomimicry, ethnomathematics approaches in social studies teaching.
