COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level
Bachelor's Degree
Course Type
Elective
Course Objective
To understand the necessity and importance of dynamic analysis in structures. Basic knowledge to understand dynamic behavior of Single-Degree-Of-Freedom (SDOF) with or without conventional damping under general dynamic loading, with emphasis on earthquake ground motion. The basic tools to solve simple problems of SDOF systems under dynamic loading. The knowledge to fully command tools for analysis of SDOF systems using computer methods, with emphasis on available software packages.
Course Content
Introduction to dynamic behavior of structures and its importance. Parameters affecting dynamic behavior. Equation of Motion. Free vibration response undamped and damped of SDOF systems. Introduction to forced vibration of SDOF systems. Response of SDOF systems subjected to earthquakes. Dynamic analysis in Turkish Earthquake Code.
