Course Objective Learning the chronological course, historical and literary development of Classical Turkish Literature; recognition and understanding of its aesthetic structure and resources. Comprehending the general characteristics of the literature that developed in the Anatolian and Ottoman fields from the 13th to the 19th centuries, examining and interpreting the important representatives and their works.
Course Content The emergence of Old Turkish Literature; language and sources in which it is influenced; Names given to Old Turkish Literature; Criticized aspects and reasons of Old Turkish Literature; General evaluation of Old Turkish Literature in terms of meter, form and genre. Topics covered in Old Turkish Literature; Domestic and foreign subjects in Old Turkish Literature; sample texts. XIII. Turkish literature until the 19th century; XIII. Turkish literature in the century; XIV. Turkish literature in the century; sample text studies from these periods. XV. century Turkish literature; XV. Characteristics of verse and prose genres in the century; sample text reviews of this period.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Learns the development line and stylistic differentiations of old Turkish literature; In the light of this information, he can divide the old Turkish literature into periods and list its general features. Evaluate the researches in the field of Old Turkish Literature and define the problems in the researches.
2Establishes relationships between various disciplines and sub-fields that the field is related to; Uses expert knowledge to analyze, synthesize and evaluate new and complex ideas and achieve original results.
3Have the ability to systematically approach new information in the field and conduct advanced research in the field.
4Can apply the knowledge of Divan poetry such as prosody, verse forms and types, rhyme and redif in scientific studies related to the field. Evaluates the researches in the field of Old Turkish Literature, defines the problems in the researches.
