COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course is gaining ability to students to examine Byzantine minor arts (metal, glass, ceramic, textile and ivory) in terms of technique, style and iconography according to light of works exhibited in Anatolia and various museums in the world.
Course Content At the end of this course, the student; will be able to recognize Byzantine minor arts; will be able to explain in the techniques of Byzantine minor arts to separate into the groups; will be able to evaluate byzantine minor arts to consider political, social, religious, economic and artistic situation of the periods. Teaching techniques are lecture, discussion, question & answer, demonstration. The students are required to attend the classes regularly and to read of key materials for prepare to lessons.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to explain material and technique features of Byzantine minor arts.
2Will be able to define Byzantine metal, glass and pottery objects and their ornamentation.
3Will be able to define Byzantine textile and ivory objects and their ornamentation.
4Will be able to recognize typology of Byzantine minor arts and their usage.
5Will be able to define usage of liturgical objects according to technique, style and iconography.
6Will be able to describe daily used objects.
7Will be able to discuss Byzantine minor arts according to political, social, religional and economical conditions of era.
8Will be able to discuss style of Byzantine objects comperatively.
9Will be able to examine socio-cultural contexture in development of Byzantine minor arts.
10Will be able to examine socio-cultural contexture in development of Byzantine painting art.
