Course Objective Aim of the course is to point out importance of political history of Great Seljuk State and states founded by Seljuk Dynasty in Turkish and world history.
Course Content General structure of Turk Islam world and general aspects of West (especially Byzantine) during foundation of Anatolian Seljuk State (Sultanate). Social and economic factors assisting foundation of Great Seljuk State. Foundation of State and its development. National borders in terms of time and territories. Conception of state, its political and social structure. Foreign and domestic policy affairs. Turkmen Affair, Struggle for the throne and its consequences. Anatolian Seljuk State as subordinate country of Great Seljuk State. Kirman Seljuk State, Syria Seljuk State’s relations with central government, State organization, domestic and foreign policies. Reasons for collapse of Great Seljuk State.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1In general Turks' community in the period of founded the Great Seljuk Empire. To teach political, social and economic structures of the Byzantine and the Islamic world and, to comprehend and evaluate the geographic, political and social factors that the establishment of the state.
2To examine the politics of the demographic structure and settlement in the place dominated by the Great Seljuk State. To teach the process of being homeland of Anatolia. To teach the Great Seljuk State’s relationship with the Fatimid Caliphate of Egypt and the Abbasid Caliphate.
3To examine the issues of domestic politics applied in the Great Seljuk Empire, to evaluate the struggles of the throne.
4To know the political and administrative structure of in the Great Seljuk Empire, and to learn and evaluate the politics of East and West.
5To analyzes impact of the Crusades on the state in the aspects of political, social and economic.
6To examine the political social and economic factors that provide establishment and the development of the Anatolian Seljuk Empire.
7To teach and evaluate to achieve Anatolian Seljuk government’s relations with the Byzantine Empire and Turkish political unity in Anatolia.
8To evaluate the Anatolian Seljuk government’s place in Turk and world history.
9To teach Mongolians' invasion of Anatolia, competition between Memluk-Ilhanli on Anatolia, the domination of Mongolians and political, social, economic situation of Anatolia and the process of foundation of Anatolian Beyliceates.
