COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course is to provide students with; To give information about the production and types of radiopharmaceuticals, to gain knowledge and skills about using Gamma Camera and PET-CT imaging systems.
Course Content Atomic and molecular physics, Physics of Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Medicine Terminology, General Radiopharmacy, private radiopharmacy and radiopharmaceuticals, Gamma Camera Imaging Methods, Gamma Camera Device, Image Quality, SPECT-CT and PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography) Imaging, skeletal system and tumor scintigraphies, cardiology applications, Digestive Scintigraphy of the system, Urogenital System Scintigraphy, central nervous system and the endocrine system scans, infection applications, brain imaging, nephrology applications, radiation detectors and in vitro tests (thyroid uptake test, the C-14 urea breath test), bone mineral density measurement, nuclear medicine TAEA radiation safety rules

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Makes quality control tests Gamma Camera, SPECT-CT and PET-CT devices and chooses imaging parameters.
4Makes patient preparation for Gamma Camera, SPECT-CT and PET-CT imaging in the device.
5Learn the preparation and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals.
6Apply TAEK radiation safety rules for nuclear medicine.
