COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course is to study the definition of the Constitution, its difference from other laws, its preparation and the general characteristics of constitutions ever produced; to inform The concept of human rights, human rights system of the United Nations, the Court and convention of the European Human Rights; and other issues related to human rights.
Course Content A new look at human rights; in the contemporary understanding of human rights, ethnic and the Kurdish issue, human rights system of the United Nations, the Court and convention of the European Human Rights; the European Convention and the Committee against Torture, the AGIT human dimension mechanism, the right to life, the right to be free from torture, freedom and security, the right to a fair trial; self-determination-defendants, minorities and children's rights, contracts, reports, and judicial decisions, individual petition of the Constitutional Court

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Knows the definition and the historical development of human rights and democracy.
2Knows the concepts of democracy, freedom, equality; different understandings of democracy, democratic culture, democracy in the school and in the family, democratic citizenship; rights and freedoms, child and women's rights, national and international regulations relevant with the human rights.
3Knows the issues of the United Nations Human Rights system, the European Convention on Human Rights.
