2901 Elementary Education PhD

GENERAL INFORMATION
Graduate education-training and research activities implemented by the Institute of Social Sciences of Pamukkale University include Ph.D.(doctorate) programs. The programs offer education in a variety of subjects such as classroom teaching, elementary mathematics teaching, and elementary science teaching etc. The language of the program is Turkish; however, the students are expected to have a level of English to follow and understand foreign literature. Ph.D. program include three part which are taking course, comprehensive exam, and defence of dissertation. The candidates will have to complete 24 hours of courses. After that they have to be successfull comprehensive exam. And than they will prepare their dissertation and they will defend their dissertation successfully.

Objective
The doctoral program in elementary education prepares students for college and university teaching and research positions in elementary education. The primary goal of the doctorate program in Elementary Education is to train academician who have positive attitudes toward teaching, researching, and have necessary professional skills for their field. Graduates who completed this program are expected to be academicians who represent a true role model for their students in terms of their personal and professional life, to follow innovations in their fields, to maintain professional development and have effective communication skills. The program also aims to provide critical perspective which is about theories, research and assessment related to specific issues in education for learners.


Admission Requirements
First cycle degree, acceptable score on centralized graduate entrance exam, placement through local oral/written exam and certificate of English proficiency

Graduation Requirements
Graduates have to complete minimum 21 credit (at least 7 courses), have to be successful comprehensive exam and they have to defence succesfully their dissertation.

Career Opportunties
Students who completed this program can work at different üniversities as an academic personel.

Recognition of Prior Learning
A successful student who has completed at least one semester in another institution / department of the university or another post-graduate program of another higher education institution may be admitted to the post-graduate programs by horizontal transfer. The conditions for acceptance by horizontal transfer are determined by the Senate.

Access to Further Studies
A student graduated with a good PhD Degree may carry on an academic carrier as a lecturer or post doctorate researcher.

9They will collecte data and interprete them, which is about their research area of interest related to the field of education. During the introduction stages, they will respect social and ethical values.
10They will apply their knowledge and problem solving skills in the field of education to interdisciplinary studies.
11They will follow the new developments in his/her educational field, and interpret them in paralel of internatinational values and national realities.
12They will make critique and suggestions about education programs being conducted in our country.
13They will conduct her/his studies considering ethical, social and scientific values.
14They will develop and apply original content in the field of education to train for researcher.
15They will develop their independent study skills and skills to work in cooperation in the field of education.
