2907 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PhD

GENERAL INFORMATION
In the Preschool Education Doctorate Program, the provisions of graduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations of the Institute of Education Sciences of Pamukkale University are implemented. The language of the program is Turkish; however, the students are expected to have a level of English to follow and understand foreign literature. The Ph.D. program includes three parts; taking course, comprehensive exam, and dissertation defense. The candidates will have to take and be successful in 240 AKTS hours of courses. After that they have to be pass comprehensive examination. Upon successfully completing the comprehensive exam, they will prepare their dissertation and successfully defend their dissertation with the guidance of a supervisor assigned by the program.

Objective
The doctoral program in Preschool Education prepares students for college and university teaching and research positions in Preschool Education. The primary goal of the doctorate program is to train academicians who have positive attitudes toward teaching, researching, and have necessary professional skills for their field. Graduates who completed this program are expected to be academicians who represent a true role model for their students in terms of their personal and professional life, to follow innovations in their fields, to maintain professional development and have effective communication skills. The program also aims to provide critical perspective which is about theories, research and assessment related to specific issues in education for learners.


Admission Requirements
First cycle degree, acceptable score on centralized graduate entrance exam, placement through local oral/written exam and certificate of English proficiency

Graduation Requirements
Graduates have to complete minimum 240 AKTS (at least 13 courses), have to pass comprehensive examination, and they have to succesfully defence their dissertation.

Career Opportunties
Students who completed this program can work at different universities as an academic personel.

Recognition of Prior Learning
A successful student who has completed at least one semester in another institution / department of the university or another post-graduate program of another higher education institution may be admitted to the post-graduate programs by horizontal transfer. The conditions for acceptance by horizontal transfer are determined by the Senate.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Access to Further Studies
A student graduated with a good PhD Degree may carry on an academic carrier as a lecturer or post doctorate researcher.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Graduates of this program will have the sufficient level of knowledge about his/her field in order to meet the needs of students and use this knowledge in educational settings.
2Graduates of this program will use theoretical and practical knowledge at mastery level of his/her educational field and expand and elaborate them.
3Graduates of this program will make suggestions to solve problems in his/her educational field using quantitative and qualitative research methods.
4Graduates of this program will know the developmental properties and learning patterns of targeted student groups that s/he will be working with and generate proper effective plans, develop material and make applications regarding these properties.
5They will share current developments and their works in the field of education with the groups in written, oral and visual transfers and in a systematic way.
6They will take responsibility for the solution of the complex applications in the field of education, and produce new strategic approaches.
7They will develop strategy, policy and implementation plans, in the field of education, and evaluate the results according the quality processes.
8They will develop knowledge and skills to use information and communication technologies in the field of education.
9They will collect and interpret data, which is about their research area of interest related to the field of education. During the introduction stages, they will respect social and ethical values.
10They will apply their knowledge and problem solving skills in the field of education to interdisciplinary studies.
11They will follow the new developments in his/her educational field, and interpret them in parallel of internatitional values and national realities.
12They will make critique and suggestions about education programs being conducted in our country.
13They will conduct her/his studies considering ethical, social and scientific values.
14They will develop and apply original content in the field of education to train for researcher.
15They will develop their independent study skills and skills to work in cooperation in the field of education.
