2247 Public Administration and Urban Studies

GENERAL INFORMATION
Local politics, public policy, administrative science, urbanization, local governments, environmental problems, research and methodologies in urban studies, research in public administration and politics, public law courses are offered.

Objective
To supply the students deeper information in these disciplines via economics, finance, and international relations based courses; to foster students in analytical thinking and synthesis of new input; to establish a powerful general culture of discipline.


Admission Requirements
ALES; English proficiency certitificate of YDS, Academic IELTS and TOEFL exams; Those who have BA degree in related fields are required to have a CGPA of 3,30/4,00.

Graduation Requirements
For those who could have MA, MSc, MPA, MBA in related field; - Required course load (min. 7 courses, 2 seminars)

Career Opportunties
Academic career, administrative positions in public and private sector

Recognition of Prior Learning
A successful student who has completed at least one semester in another institution / department of the university or another post-graduate program of another higher education institution may be admitted to the post-graduate programs by horizontal transfer. The conditions for acceptance by horizontal transfer are determined by the Senate.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
For those who could have MA, MSc, MPA, MBA in related field; - Required course load (min. 7 courses, 2 seminars)

Access to Further Studies
The students who has completed MA/MSc degrees and are able to provide a valid score from ALES and English exam may apply to PhD programs.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Have theoretical knowledge and equipment of master degree in administrative science, political science, policy sciences, sociology, law, urban studies, environmental studies.
2Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding which provides a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context of administrative science, political science, sociology, public law, urban studies, environmental studies.
3Apply their theoretical knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in solving new problems within multidisciplinary contexts related to administrative science, political science, sociology, urban studies, environmental studies, public law.
4Have ability to conceive, design, implement, adapt and evaluate a substantial process of research with scholarly integrity in the fields of administration, public law, politics, sociology, urban studies, environmental studies contexts, at national and international level.
5Have the ability to integrate research results and literature and formulate judgments in the fields of administrative science, political science, sociology, public law, urban and environmental studies.
6Have the ability of working and studying independently with an interdisciplinary perspective on the issues of administrative science, political science, sociology, public law, urban and environmental studies.
7Assume there are different schools of thought which alternatives to each other in political science, public administration, public law, urban and environmental studies; compare, criticize and investigate those schools. Embrace an analytical perspective for the problems in political, social, administrative, legal, financial, urbanization, spatial, environmental contexts.
8Embrace a responsibility for sharing new information with peers and a strong motivation for following international literature in the political, administrative, public administration, public policy, public law, urbanization and environmental studies fields.
9Use computer science and statistics techniques and programs in order to analysis social issues in the field of administrative science, political science, policy sciences, public law, sociology, urbanization and environmental studies with an interdisciplinary perspective.
10Have ability to follow new theoretical and practical innovations and produce new approaches in the fields of administrative science, political science, law, sociology and urbanization.
11Identify and consider ethical, social, practical, policy implications of scientific investigations and the importance of being objective during the scientific research.
12Produce practical information on management, governance, politics, local governments, public law, environmental studies, and urbanization.
