GENERAL INFORMATION
Pamukkale University English Language and Literature Department started its studies in 2001. The instruction language is English. In the first year, literary terms and concepts are taught with a focus on the various literary texts that form the basis of English literature, as well as an overview of English culture and literature. In the second, third and fourth years, the developmental adventure of English literature is examined throughout chronological periods, in a system which also emphasizes the cultural and historical characteristics of the selected canonical texts of literary genres such as poetry, theatre, novel, and short story. Some other complementary aims are teaching and practicing English writing, translation, speaking, comprehension, and interpretation competently through literary text analysis.
