523 HORTICULTURAL CROPS

GENERAL INFORMATION
The "Department of Horticulture", which is the first department established in 2022 within the Faculty of Agriculture of Pamukkale University, has started to provide undergraduate education on fruit growing, vegetable growing, viticulture and ornamental plants cultivation and problems, greenhouse cultivation, conservation and market preparation of horticultural products since the 2023-2024 academic year. Within the borders of Denizli Çal, Acıpayam and Çivril districts, vineyard, fruit, vegetable and ornamental plants including different species and varieties are produced for research and application purposes. The Department of Horticulture has a vineyard-fruit-vegetable garden, plastic greenhouse, cold storage facility. In addition, scientific studies and courses are carried out in laboratories.

Objective
The aim of the horticulture programme is to train manpower to work on the cultivation of various vegetables and fruits in vineyards and gardens with scientific methods, development of species, collection, protection and marketing of products and to conduct research.
