Course Objective The aim of the course is to enable students to comprehension the development of modern education in Türkiye from 18st century to 1945.
Course Content Modernization concept, the emergence of westernization idea in Ottoman, development idea and institutional in modern Turkish education from Tulip to Turkish Republic (periods of the Tulip Period, Selim III, Mahmud II, Constitutionalism I and Constitutionalism II) , Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's educational and scientific opinion, Education in the Türkiye between 1938-1945.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To describe to the circumtances leading up to begin westernization movement in Türkiye.
2To Explain the nature of the philosophical and institutional developments in the field of education in the modernization of Türkiye.
3To assess the efforts and logic of Tanzimat reforms in the field of education.
4To Analyzes the developments in field of the education from primary to higher education (ibtidai, rüshdiye, sultani, Darü’l-fünun, vacational and technical schools) in Abdulhamid II and Constitutional periods.
5To make analysis about the educational problems of Turkish Republic remaining from the Otoman Empire.
6To explain of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's educational and scientific opinion.
7To explain of the role of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of Turkish Republic, in the emergence and development of modern educational institutions.
8To explain of the importance of Educational Congress in 1921 in Turkish education history.
9To determine of the location of Tevhid-i Tedrisat in the modern Turkish education sistem.
10To analyze of the primary, secondary and higher education politics of Republican Period.
11To explain of the development primary, secondary and higher education institutions of Republican Period.
12To assess in location Turkish education history and views of Republican Period’s educators.
13To use from social sources.
14To deal with national and global social issues based on a critical perspective.
