Course Objective
In this course, it is aimed to support, enrich and enhance the current knowledge and skills of students about science and mathematics. It is aimed that students explain the approaches about science and mathematics in early childhood and compare the research results made in the field with the situation in practice and gain the ability to realize their applications in this direction. For this purpose, standards in the field of science and mathematics will be shared and research-based science and mathematics programs will be examined in early childhood.
Course Content
1.The importance and content of science and mathematics in early childhood, examining the achievements related to science and mathematics in preschool education program 2. Cognitive development (executive functions) and the relationship between language , science and math skills 8. Effective teaching of science and mathematics: Constructivist approach 9. Effective teaching of science and mathematics: The role of structured and unstructured play 10. Effective science and mathematics teaching: nursery rhyme, finger games, songs, children's books 11. Effective teaching of science and mathematics: museums, natural environment, field trips
