IME 623CONSTRUCTING GEOMETRY AND MEASUREMENT CONCEPTS IN PRIMARY EDUCATION3 + 04th Semester10

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The aim of this course is to establish the conceptual basis of geometry (geometric objects, shapes, angles, etc.) and measurement subjects in the current curriculum. In addition, the development and implementation of course content focused on the use of technologies such as dynamic geometry software, computer programs, graphic calculators, and activities that encourage conceptual understanding and high-level thinking will be provided.
Course Content Basic geometric concepts and their history, geometry materials and measurement applications, Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry, teaching angles, teaching polygons, teaching the circle, teaching three-dimensional objects, teaching analytical geometry, teaching trigonometry, teaching length, area and volume, fractal geometry and transformation geometry, examining studies in geometry and measurement in the related literature, geometry in different cultures
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Distinguish the basic concepts of geometry and the nature of geometric structures in their historical development and comprehend the relationship between them.
2Makes time, length, area, volume and angle measurement applications by using various geometry materials and identifies and interprets student misconceptions that may arise as a result of these applications.
3Follows, interprets and compares the current literature in the field of geometry and measurement.
4Designs micro-teaching on any subject in the field of geometry and measurement.
5Designs and implements a research proposal in the field of geometry and measurement.
