FBE 663 THE USE OF EFFECTIVE DISCOURSE TECHNIQUES IN SCIENCE COURSES AND DEVELOPMENT OF IN CLASS DISCOURSE QUALITY3 + 03rd Semester10

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective In this course, it is aimed to discuss how in-class discourse techniques can be used in science teaching with sample dialogues. Dialogues that students enter with teachers and other students create classroom discourse and thus verbal interaction environments. Since one of the ways to increase the quality of education is to increase the quality of scientific discourses, this course will focus on the patterns of dialogue and the similarities and differences of these patterns. The effects of teacher-student conversations or conversations among students on learning will be discussed.
Course Content The importance of discourses in the educational process, classroom discourse patterns, communicative approach in science lessons, sample science lesson design and classroom practices for the use of each communicative approach prepared by Mortimer and Scott (2003) in the science course, teacher interventions, classroom norms, efective questioning strategies, discourse analysis, exploratory and productive speech will be emphasized.
