COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective In structures and machines, the members are made of not only of homogeneous, isotropic materials, but also of anisotropic materials, which show a sharp difference in elastic properties for different directions. To design anisotropic members undergoing elastic strains, it is necessary to know how to determine the stresses and strains in anisotropic body theoretically.
Course Content States of Stress and strain, Transformation of stress and strain components, Generalized Hooke's Law, Elastic Symmetry, Transformation of Elastic Constants, Transformation of Complex Parameters, Curvilinear Anisotropy, Variational Principles, Extension of a Bar, Shear, Uniform Compression, Bending of a Bar, Bending of a Rectangular Plate, Stress Distribution in a Homogeneous Body, Stress Functions, Rectilinearly Anisotropic Body, General Formulas for Stress Components, Stress Distribution in a Rectilinearly Anisotropic Body, Stress Distribution in a Cylindrical Anisotropic Body, Plane stress and strain, Generalized Plane Strain, Plane Problem in Rectilinearly Orthotropic Body, Extensions and Bending, Elliptical cylinder, Stress distribution in an Elliptical Cylinder, Extensions of an Orthotropic Plate with a Elliptical Hole, Orthotropic Plate with a Circular Hole, Stress distribution, Extension of an Orthotropic Plate with a Circular Cone, Radial Stress Distribution in an Elastic Half-Plane, Extension and Bending by Moments of a Rectangular Plate, Generalized Plane Strain, Generalized Plane in a Homogeneous Body, Problem Of Plane Strain For A Body With Cylindrical Anisotropy, Axially Symmetric Stress Distributions, Stress Distribution in a Hollow Cylinder, Axially Symmetric Deformation, General Equation, General Expressions For Stresses, Axially Symmetric Deformations, Stress Distribution an Elastic Half-Space, Extensions of Elastic Cone, Stress Distribution Around An Elliptical Inclusion, Torsions, Generalized Torsion of Bars, Twisting and Bending Moments, Simple or Pure Torsion of a Bar, Elliptical or Circular Section, Torsions of Orthotropic Rectangular, Approximate Methods, Approximate Methods for Solving Torsions Problems, Torsions Of An Orthotropic Bar of Rectangular Section, Orthotropic Bar of Rectangular Section, Torsion of Hollow Circular Cylinder.
