Course Objective To understand the atomic and molecular structure
Course Content Distribution of electrons in atoms, feature percolation, penetration and depth, the energies of atomic orbitals, Pauli principle, hunt rule, aufbau principle, cell types of the crystal structure, liquid crystals, glassy structures, non- stoichiometric compounds, crystal lattice defects, alloys and intermetallic phases, X-rays, XRF and use of quantitative determination, XRD and analysis of diffractograms, super conductivity in metals, acids, bases, super acids and solvents, extraction of metals.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1explains atomic models. Examines the structure of the atom.
2Explains the changing tendencies of periodic properties. Among the periodic properties, metallic-nonmetallic, atomic radius, ionization energy, electron affinity and Electronegativity concepts are explained.
3It goes into and details the definitions of covalent, ionic, metallic, van der Waals radius. Examines the properties of elements in the periodic table at the atomic and molecular level.
