Course Objective Nowadays many researches are made about the durability of concrete structures, and many experiment methods are improved and also many standards are written and renewed in this field. In the scope of this course, the deterioration processes of the materials those constitute reinforced concrete, the technical knowledge about the remedies for preventing against deterioration of reinforced concrete structures and contents of the standards about the lesson will be given.
Course Content Pore Structure and Permeability of Concrete, Classification of deterioration of Reinforced Concrete Structures, Frost Action, Fire Action, Deterioration by Chemical Action, Acid Attacks, Sulfate Attacks, Alkali-Silicate Reactions, Corrosion of Reinforcement Steel in Concrete, Concrete in Sea Water, Classification of Environmental Exposure, Design of Concrete in respect of Durability. .
