Course Objective To provide information about flood and drought information and methods in water resources engineering.
Course Content Analysis of Exreme Events. Probability Concepts, Product Moments. Probability Weighted Moments and L- Moments. Distributions for Extreme Events; N, LN, LN3. General Extrem Value Distribution GEV, Power Distribution. Pearson Type 3 and Log-Pearson Type 3 Distributions. Probability Plots and Goodness-of- Fit Tests. Robustness Analysis, L- Moments Diagrams. Confidence Intervals for Quantiles. Drought Analysis, Stochastis Processes. Runs Analysis. Regional Drought Analysis, Low Flow Frequency Analysis. Flood Frequency Analysis, Regional Flood Frequency Analysis. Use of Observations Beyond Threshold in the Analysis of Extreme Hydrologic Variables. .
