Course Objective This course examines the mechanisms underlying toxicity, particularly the events at the molecular level and the factors that determine and affect toxicity. It reflect the latest research into the biochemical basis of toxicology and the growing concerns over the adverse effects of drugs, environmental pollution, and occupational hazards.
Course Content Introduction: Definition and Scope, Markers of toxicity, Metabolism of xenobiotics I, Metabolism of xenobiotics II, Metabolism of xenobiotics III, Protective systems against toxicity I, Protective systems against toxicity II, Reactive oxygen species I, Reactive oxygen species II, Induction of metabolism by toxicants, Toxic effects of inorganic salts, Toxic effects of pesticides, Toxic effects of hydrocarbons and alcohols, Toxic Effect of foods.
