Course Objective This course aims to practical application of recombinant DNA methods used in the field of molecular biology and molecular biochemistry in a comprehensive way and accomplish students with these skills.
Course Content This is a laboratory course that focuses on molecular biology techniques. Research techniques in molecular genetics and nucleic acid biochemistry will be handled: Plasmid isolation, restriction analysis, molecular cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, overexpression of proteins in E. coli, purification of recombinant proteins, analysis of proteins by SDS-PAGE and western blotting, computer-aided DNA sequence analysis, nucleic acid hybridization. Students will learn not merely how to carry out laboratory procedures, but also how these methods are used to unravel information about genes and proteins.
