Course Objective The aim of this course is; To teach students basic pathophysiological topics and concepts in the field of internal medicine nursing. This course focuses on the pathophysiology of the most common diseases that disrupt cell, organ and system functions. In this course, students are taught the basic pathophysiological mechanisms that occur at the cellular level. Signs and symptoms, impairments in organ and system functions, presented with sample cases, are discussed with questions involving cause-effect relationships. By using the factual/conceptual knowledge acquired, the student is given the ability to question and analyze the pathophysiological changes in the clinical situations he encounters and to reach synthesis
Course Content Introduction to pathophysiology, cell and tissue physiology, carbohydrate metabolism, fat metabolism, protein metabolism, tissue injury, inflammatory response, fluid electrolyte balance and related disorders, shock, stress, pain and pain management, sleep, cancer, lymphatic system and edema, body temperature. and its regulation
