NOB 637CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR MECHANISMS IN NERVE CELLS2 + 03rd Semester5

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective Unlike many other tissues, neurons are not routinely or easily replaced. When neurons are lost due to trauma or disease there is a significant loss of function. The aims of the course are: (1) to learn and discuss the relationship between organel structure and function, (2) to discuss the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression, (3) to understand the neuronal survival / death signalling pathways, (4) to discuss molecular mechanisms of major cell function in nerve cells.
Course Content The relationship between organel structure and function, the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression, mechanisms of major cell function in nerve cells.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Define the structure of a nerve cell
2Discuss the relationship between structure-function in a nerve cell
3Discuss how are nerve cells different from other cells at molecular level
4Explain fundamental principles of survival/death pathways in nerve cells
5Discuss the cellular functions at molecular level
