Course Objective The aim of the course is studying the working principles of cardiovascular system in advanced level. The objectives of the course are, discussing excitation-conduction system of the heart, cardiac cycle, ECG, properties of blood vessels, principles of blood flow and pressure regulation, coronary blood flow and pathologies of cardiovascular system.
Course Content Cardiac muscle, excitation-contraction properties, otoritmisity, pace-maker function, cardiac cycle, organisation of circulatory system, functions of arterial and venous systems, compliance, microcirculation, fluid exchange at capillary level, lenfatic system, blood flow control mechanisms, Control of blood pressure, haemodynamic principles, Cardiac output, Coronary circulation, Cardiovascular response to exercise, Cardiovascular system physiopathology, cardiac oscultation, murmurs, Electrocardiogram (ECG) , heart rate, determination of cardiac axis, vectorial analysis, Pathological ECG, Measurement of blood pressure and pulse, Observation of hemorheology laboratory working principles, working in hemorheology laboratory, investigating alterations in heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and ECG induced by different exercise types, Discussion on diagnosis of cardiac pathologies

1Explains the working principle’s of the cardio-vascular system.
2Defines the contribution of cardiovascular functions to homeostasis.
3Explains cardio-vascular system pathologies and therapeutic approaches.
4Determines blood pressure, ECG and pulse according to their rules and explains their pathologies .

6Accounts for research on cardio-vascular system functions.
