Course Objective To teach and discuss major theories of public policy process that are developing since 1950s. By discussing roots, developments, current conditions, examples of analysis, and reflections in Turkey, students will gain experience to utilize these theories in research and analysis of public policy process.
Course Content Introduction to Theories of the Public Policy Processes. Public Policy Cycle Theory. Political System Theory. Dynamic Stages Model in Public Policy Analysis. Large N (20+) Comparative Policy Analysis. Multiple Streams and Ambiguity Framework. Punctuated Equilubrium Model. Rational Institutional Approach. Democratic Policy Design. Comparative Public Policy Analysis. Network Approach in Public Policy Analysis. Power and Nondecisions in Public Policies. Complexity Sciences in Public Policy. Interpretive Approach in Public Policy. Comparing Theories of the Policy Process. Other Theories of the Public Policy Process. Future of Public Policy theories.
