Course Objective The aims of the course are to have information about sculptural studies related with architecture of the Lycus Valley. The objectives of the course are to determine reflections of cults to the sculpture, to know and compare sculpture examples of Laodikeia, to determine sculptural features of sarcophagi of Lycus Valley.
Course Content During this course, Roman and Early Byzantine local sculpture, its interconnections and characteristics will be explained. Sculpture of Hierapolis and Laodikeia -which are two cities of Lycos valley will being excavated- will be underlined. Local characteristics, stiles and resemblances and differences with Aphrodisias sculpture will be evaluated.
