Course Objective The main aim of this course is to enable students to; It is to recognize the basic concepts, principles and theories in psychology that will enable the scientific examination of human behavior and mental processes. At the end of the course, students will understand the nature of psychological constructs and individual differences. Discussions will be included as psychological experiences take place in the daily life of each student.
Course Content 1. Introduction of the course: Scope, importance and rules 2. Definition and content of the science of psychology Sub-fields of psychology Historical development and schools 3. Research methods in psychology Ethical issues in psychology 4. Physiology and behavior Central nervous system Peripheral nervous system 5. Sensory processes and their characteristics. Sensory thresholds. Senses (vision, pain/pain, etc.) 6. Perception, perceptual organization Perceptual invariances Distance, depth perception Perceptual illusions 7. Consciousness and theoretical approaches Stages and physiology of sleep Dreaming 8. Artificial changes in consciousness Substance use Psychoactive drugs (depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens) 9. Learning and its characteristics Classical conditioning and its components 10. Learning Operant Conditioning Cognitive Learning 11. Memory Sensory registers Short-term memory (working memory) Long-term memory (episodic-semantic memory, implicit-explicit memory) 12. Memory Reconstructed memory 13. Intelligence
