Course Objective The aim of this course is to help students achieve a better understanding of the processes involved in teaching and learning a foreign language, and a richer conceptualization of the interactive relationship between the approaches and methods in ELT within its framework by embodying theories deriving from classroom practices.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students can understand and explain learning theories and their connection with language teaching approaches and methods.
2Students can explain the language teaching methods and approaches based on learning theories and can use them in appropriate contexts.
3Students can explain and use what the appropriate contexts are for each language teaching method and approach in Turkey.
4Students are aware of the factors affecting language teaching and learning process both inside and outside the classroom.
5Students analyze and see the effects of the language teaching and learning processes in different countries.
6Students know the similarities and differences of each method or approach, and can use eclectic techniques depending on the need.
7Students know the difference between an approach, a method and a technique.
8Students can identify the needs and objectives of a target student group and use the appropriate language approach, method or technique.
