COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Master's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The acquisition of geometric reasoning skills through spatial feelings and the use of Conceptual approaches in teaching them.
Course Content Development of measurement methods, the reasons of using standard and non-standard measurement methods, and the comparison of the situations as length, area, volume, one-dimensional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional environments, developing algebric thinking, introduction of Identification and understanding of the Van Hiele geometric thinking levels, recognition of geometric shapes and features, the ways of benefitting from the geometric relationships in teaching some mathematical subjects, understanding of geometric relations by using virtual mathematical tools as Geogebra, Geup, etc.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Understanding the concepts of measurement
2Understanding the importance of the transition from non-standard units to standard ones in teaching geometry
3Being able to Understand that length is a single dimensional situation
4Being able to understand that the concept of field is available for two-dimensional environments
5Being able to understand that the concept of volüme is available for theree-dimensional environments
6Realizing the significance of considering different dimensions for the solutions of a given problem
7Being able to realize the the importance of conceptual teaching instead of formula based teaching
8Teaching the easiness of developing equations depending on the relations netween geometrical shapes
9Understanding and being able to explain the gathered data based on Van Hiele geometric levels.
