Course Objective The aim of this course is to raise awareness on the developments in the field of Turkish language teaching and develop scientific research skills with regard to the field.
Course Content There will be discussions on teaching vocabulary in Turkish teaching classes and developing mental lexicon by examining related studies.Problems encountered in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and related studies carried out are discussed and suggestions are developed. Focusing on reading difficulty and its types, related studies are analyzed. The importance of creative writing in developing writing skills are discussed, and practices on this issue are implemented. Further discussions are also made on whether creative drama is necessary in teaching Turkish. The concept of text in teaching Turkish and text linguistics are examined fundamental approaches in grammar teaching are probed. Talking about the contemporary approaches in developing reading and writing habits, suggestions are put forward. Scientific studies in the field of language teaching are analyzed and discussed. Practices on a specific topic that have scientific bases are presented in the form of an article draft.
