Course Objective Understanding the main components of the art (artist, artwork, audience, social environment) and predicting the relationship between them. The relationship between art theories and art interpretation (art criticism). Understanding the development of art criticism in historical process. Research on contemporary art theories and approaches. Monitoring art activities. Understanding the role of art criticism (interpretation of art) in visual arts education. Learning types of art criticism and approaches. Observation and evaluation of visual artworks in its category. Analysis of art criticism texts. Experience verbal and written art criticism.
Course Content Art field; The relationship between artist, work, audience, environment. Art theories; reflection, expression, formalist and other approaches. Intellectual foundations affecting art criticism. Art criticism in visual arts; educational criticism of art. Studying - analysis approaches; iconology, semiotics. Critical analysis of texts. Visual culture and art interpretation; Monitoring art activities. Art criticism practices; Written, verbal criticism.
