Course Objective The aim of this course is to relate the basic concepts of measurement and evaluation with theory and practice, to recognize the basic features of different measurement theories and to distinguish these theories from each other.
Course Content Meaning and the levels of measurement, relationship between science and measurement, nature of the psychological constructs, basics of philosophy and history of psychological measurement. Measurement error, concepts of validity and reliability. Classical test theory and item response theory, generalizability theory, test development and adaptation process, relationship between item and test statistics, measurement tools aims to measure different traits, summary and general evaluation of the class.

1Knows the purposes of use and major classifications of measurement tools used in education and psychology.
2Explains the relationship between validity and reliability.
3Demonstrates methods of proving validity and reliability with sample applications.
4Calculates item and test statistics and interprets the results.
5Establishes the relationship between item & test statistics and the psychometric properties of the test.
6Knows the basic assumptions and principles of the classical test theory and the item response theory.
7Knows the similarities and differences between the classical test theory and the item response theory.
8Explains the standards that measurement and evaluation processes should have in education and psychology.
9Knows the basic principles of generalizability theory.
10Knows the test development and adaptation process.
