IME 611CONCEPTS OF INFINITESIMALS FOR MATHEMATICS TEACHERS2 + 02nd Semester

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Master's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The aim of this lesson is to provide for mathematics teachers to have high level knowledge and abilities on limit, derivative and integral concepts building on idea of infinitesimals both in numerous representation features and in numerous teaching approaches.
Course Content Discussing problem situations requiring using the limit procedure, solving the problems, which will be associated with derivative and integral in the future, with analytic methods and numerical and graphical methods, when it is necessary. Differential concept and the role of it in constructing derivative concepts. The role of differential concept in constructing integral concept. Constructing the relation between integral and derivative concepts. Using limit, derivative and integral concepts as tools of problem solving and modeling in real life problems. Researching students' learning situations of infinitesimals.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Model limit, derivative and integral concepts with non-algebraic representations methods (numerical tables and visual designs).
2Recognize main role of diferantial concept in constructing derivative and integral concepts.
3Construct the relations between derivative and integral concepts.
4Pose and solve problems examplifying the role of derivative and integral concepts in improving modern physics and today's technology.
5Use from technology for constructing different representations of limit, derivative and integral concepts when it is necessary.
6Design and implement the researchs regarding students learning of limit, derivative and integral concepts.
