Course Objective
Definition of biotechnology and biosafety concepts, applications of biotechnology in agriculture, food and environment areas Explaining the interaction processes of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) with the environment. Giving information about biosafety protocols and levels, biotechnological risk assessment and risk management, taking preventive measures when dealing with events involving biological hazards.
Course Content
-Biosafety and biotechnological approaches. -Genetic pollution that may arise from GMO plants, the situation of our country, the homeland of many wild species. -Transgenic applications. -Strategy for universal view of biosafety laws. -Current status assessments for GM products in the EU. -Transgenic applications and biosafety process.
