COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Master's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective To recognize types of pump and working principles and to obtain characteristics curves, to investigation the effect of geometric factors on pump characteristics.
Course Content Introduction, centrifugal pumps, working principle, head, power and efficiency characteristics, specific speed, similarity, effects of the speed and diameter variation, calculate, drawing and construction, axial pump, theory. Special pumps: deep well pumps and submersible pumps, submersible motors, characteristics curves of the submersible pumps, pump selection criteria, design method of obtaining stable head-flow curves, effects of blade number, blade discharge angle, impeller diameter and coefficient of blade thickness. Effects on pump characteristics of geometric factors, overload theory, splitter blade offset technique, pumps with splitter blade, comparison of characteristics curve of pump with and without splitter blade at he different blade number and blade discharge angles.
