Course Objective Most of machine parts are heat treated. strength of materials changes with heat treatment. strength of materials is very importent for machine designer. The aim of this course is correctly determining of machine parts' strength.
Course Content Metal microstructure, Anneling, Quenching, Surface hardening, Heat treatment of tool steels, Heat treatment of nonferros metals, Carburizing of gears: Effect of internal oxsidation on mechanical properties, Effect of decarburizing and carbides on mechanical properties, Effect of retained austenite and microstructure on mechanical properties, Effect of core properties, case depth and post carburizing treatment on mechanical properties, Heat treatment of machine parts without gears
