Understanding of ophiolites is greatly assisted by progress in oceanic lithosphere studies.
Course Content
Ophiolite concept, tectonites and cumulates, sheeted dyke complexes, pillow lavas, toleitic basalts, plate dinamics and volcanism, on different diagrames showing origin features of ophiolite, paleotetis and neotetis ophiolites, discussions of Turkey Ophiolites and their ages, metamorphic tectonic slides of ophiolite napes in Turkey.
