Course Objective To understand the basic concepts related to activated sludge modelling and to gain required information about the activated sludge modelling.
Course Content The content of the course consists of the activated sludge system stoichiometry and kinetics, substrate removal and kinetics, microbial growth and decay. Theory of activated sludge processes and modifications (conventional activated sludge process, contact stabilizations, tapered aeration, sequencing batch reactors, other process modifications), design of activated sludge systems, design parameters, activated sludge models (ASM1, ASM2, ASM3), product formation in activated sludge system, kinetics of product formation and product models.
