Course Objective The aim of the course is to help make basic calculations that may be necessary for Molecular Biological and Biotechnological studies with correct approaches. With the theoretical and practical knowledge obtained at the end of the course, researchers are expected to learn the mathematical and statistical methods necessary to easily solve the basic problems they encounter in scientific studies and thus reach the most accurate result.
Course Content Scientific Notation and Metric Prefixes, Solutions, Mixtures and Media, Cell Growth: Working with Bacteriophage, Determining the Amount of Nucleic Acids, Labeling Nucleic Acids with Radioisotopes; Oligonucleotide Synthesis: Synthesis Yield; Polymerase Chain Reaction Activity; Measurement of Gene Expression by Real-Time PCR; Calculation of Relative Quantity by Reaction Kinetics in Real-Time PCR; Digital PCR; Recombinant DNA: Quantification of Fragment Ends; Use of β-Galactosidase to Monitor Promoter Activity and Gene Expression; Use of Luciferase in Reporter Analysis; Forensic Medicine and Paternity: Calculating Genotype Frequency.

9having knowledge about the use and applications of molecular biological techniques in forensic sciences
7Having knowledge about digital PCR working principles and application fields
