Course Objective The course aims to provide the students with exemplary fictional works of the contemporary English authors representing the Literary movements as well. This course following the first term course Literary Theories and Criticism, aims the application of the theoretical knowledge to literary works. The most known authors are dealt with in this course and the individual reactions of the students are aimed to be developed. The students are supported to interpret and comprehend the literary works correctly. The American elements forming the novels are evaluated critically. It is aimed to display the structural elements of the novels by highlighting the influential cultural elements providing the development of the novel in America.
Course Content The definition of American novel, types of American novel, literary periods, literary terms and concepts, methods of examining novels, techniques of researching novels will be examined theoretically and practically.
