Course Objective This course introduces the historical background of Armenians who lived under the rule of Ottoman’s for more than 540 years. The aim is to inform the students about the massacres in Anatolia done by the Armenians. Besides, how Russia and other western countries attempted to change the mentality of the Armenians will be studied.
Course Content This course discusses post-structure of the country at the start of the Ottoman State, the policies of the dominant countries on Armenia, Armenian organizations, Armenian revolt and massacres. Emigration Law (Techir Kanunu) and its practice also will be analysed.
