Course Objective The aim of the course; mapping of the social life of the Byzantine period in the light of the resources, defining the political and social conditions affect the social life, examining the reflections of these conditions on Byzantine art.
Course Content Political, economic and religious reasons shaping art starting from the Early Christian Period will be discussed.  Styles and themes of Byzantine Art will be evaluated according to its process within the periods.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

1Will be able to examine the Byzantine political map according to Byzantine sources.
2Will be able to analyze the cultural influences on art.
3Will be able to examine the Byzantine social life changes and their reflections on art.
4Will be able to explain the effects of the Byzantine cultural context on art styles.
5Will be able to discuss on political, religious and economic reasons affecting Byzantine art within categorizing different conditions.
6Will be able to improve his/her research abilities about the basic references in the field.
