Course Objective The aim of course is examining the developments in the religous architecture from the Kharahanid Period to the Early, Classical and Late Ottoman periods. To focus on the change in the upper structure systems with paralelism in the developments of the mosques with the basis of the four, six and eigth piers and the change in the Late Ottoman Architecture because of the European influences
Course Content After discussing the overall view of the locality and covering ornaments in mosques as religious architectural works which had begun to improve significantly with the time of Karahans, the buildings of both early and the classical time of Ottoman will be explained. The Ottoman buildings with central planning ornamented by four, six, and eight attachments will be discussed by comparisons to other similar ones in other works of arts.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to evaluate the Ottoman architecture during the 17th century
2Will be able to compare and evaluate the Great Complexes of the 17th century with the Ottoman complexes from the earlier periods
3Will be able to describe the ornamentation programs in the buildings of the 17th century
4Will be able to have detailed information about the organization of space and plan in the Sultan Ahmed I Mosque at İstanbul
5Will be able to describe in detail the organization of space and plan in the Yeni Mosque at İstanbul
6Will be able to have information about the madrasa centralized complexes of the 17th century such as the complexes of Gazanfer Aga, Koprulu Mehmed Pasha, Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Paşa etc.
7Will be able to discuss about the Institution of Ottoman Royal Architects and the masters of the Institution after Sinan the Architect.
8Will be able to evaluate the developments in Ottoman architecture during the 18th century
9Will be able to evaluate the Complexes of the 18th century at İstanbul
10Will be able to describe the change in the organization of space and plan and the reasons of the change in the Ottoman mosques of the 18th century
11Will be able to define the change in the Ottoman architecture because of the European influences
12Will be able to describe in detail the architecture and construction stages of the Nur’u-Osmaniye Complex according to the archival records and explain its ornamentation program

1 Standstill Period of Ottoman Architecture will make a general assessment.
2 XVII. century, built in the large complex program will be evaluated, in the previous period, in comparison with the complex will be built.
3 XVII. century buildings will be covered in the decorative program.
4 Istanbul-Mosque places and plan Sultanahmed in detail the arrangements will be covered.
5 Istanbul-Yeni Camii places and plan in detail with the regulations will be covered.
6 XVII. century madrasah-based complex and (Gazanfer Aga, Köprülü Mehmed Pasha Kara Mustafa Pasha, et al. complex and) will be discussed.
7 After the architect Sinan, Ottoman architect Hassan in January and will focus on this organization per Basilar last architect.
